Urban Forestry and Municipal Landscape Manual

For more than four decades, an active and professional urban forestry program supported by the Village has increased the number, health, and value of the parkway trees in Downers Grove. In order to preserve and perpetuate the public parkway tree component of the urban forest, thorough planning and proactive management practices are essential. A management plan has been assembled and is updated annually in a manual titled the Urban Forestry and Municipal Landscape Maintenance Program. The manual documents the management practices, forestry goals, and landscape activities.

A full printed version is available for review at the Downers Grove Public Lilbrary located at 1050 Curtiss Street, OR individual chapters may be downloaded from the links below. Chapter 1 provides a brief introduction to the program as a whole, and subsequent chapters each detail a specific area such as planting or pruning.
