The Main Street, Belmont Road and Fairview Avenue train stations in Downers Grove provide Metra rail service from Aurora to Chicago.
Parking is available at all three stations through Commuter Permits, Daily Parking and Parking Meters.
Permits must be displayed in order to park in designated commuter lots between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Please see the Commuter Lot Parking Map for the location of the permit lots. Parking is free in commuter lots on weekdays after 12:00 noon, weekends, and on major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Due to a demand greater than the number of permit spaces available, the Village maintains a wait list. Commuters may place their names on one or more of the wait lists. However, only residents of incorporated Downers Grove may be added to the Main Street wait list.
| Train Station | Residents | Non-Residents |
|---|---|---|
| Fairview | $75 per qtr | $105 per qtr |
| Main Street | $80 per qtr | |
| Belmont | $80 per qtr | $110 per qtr |
Beginning at 8:15 a.m., Daily Parking Permits can be purchased for $3.00 at Village Hall (801 Burlington Avenue) or the Public Works Facility (5101 Walnut Avenue). These one-day permits are valid in all commuter lots and must be purchased the day of use.
Daily parking is available for $3.00 in the Parking Deck located on Curtiss Street, between Main Street and Washington Street. Parking at the Parking Deck is free after 3:00 p.m.
Daily Parking is available south of the tracks in Lot K and north of the tracks in Lot J. The Belmont Train Station Parking Guide shows the locations and details the payment procedures for these lots.
Meters accept quarters only, or a Village-issued Cash Key. Each quarter registers one hour of time, up to 12 hours maximum. Meters must be fed Monday through Saturday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The Commuter Lot Parking Map shows the meter locations:
Cash Keys are available at Village Hall (801 Burlington Ave.) for a non-refundable fee of $25 and can be programmed with any value.
When a Cash Key is fully inserted into a meter, the meter displays the value remaining on the key, rounded to the nearest dollar. The first insertion also deducts $0.25. To register additional hours on the meter, re-insert the Cash Key.
