Salary
As of May 1, 2009, starting salary for a sworn Police Officer is $54,084.

Minimum Requirements
- 21 – 35 years of age
- 60 College Credit Hours
- U. S. Citizen
- Prepare for the Power Test well in advance with a routine exercise program and maintain your health and fitness.
- Be honest and truthful at all times.
- Let friends and loved ones know in advance the time and commitment that will need to be dedicated to the academy, as you will not have much free time to spend with them during the training.
- Take pride in yourself, your actions and your appearance. Come prepared with shoe polish and a lint roller too!
- Be open to receiving advice and constructive criticism.
- Be prepared to make mistakes but do not let yourself be set back by these. Turn this into a positive learning experience and continue to move ahead.
- Be ready to study A LOT , about 2-3 hours after each day at the academy.
- Treat this as your new career, not just school.
- Pay close attention to those items and lessons that instructors repeat over the course of the academy. Repetition is a key in police work and this is usually done with important lessons.
- Be respectful of EVERYBODY , not just academy personnel.
