Mission:

• To support the Village Council’s Strategic Plan that visions Downers Grove to be a technology community
• To enable the Village to provide excellent services to the community by researching and introducing current information technology into the Village’s operations.
• To provide technical support to residents and Village staff in receiving and providing municipal services.

Areas of Services:

Information Services is managed under a centralized approach and major responsibilities of the department include the following:

Maintenance of Village’s IT infrastructure, e.g., a wide area network that connects all Village facilities including four fire stations, Police Department, Public Works Building, and Village Hall.

Network Administration: the Village’s network operates under a Microsoft platform, e.g., Win2003, Exchange.

Applications: various applications being used throughout the Village, e.g, HTE (public safety), Fire House (fire records), Eden (Finance), ESRI (GIS), OnBase (Doc Management), MS Office 2003 (office operations), Hexagram (remote water meter reading.)

Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL

Websites: Intranet (SharePoint), Internet (Ruby on Rails)

Staff:

The department consists of a staff of eight (8) ranging from System Admin to GPS Technician providing a full range of services to support the Village’s daily operations.

Current Major Projects:

• Installation of Cisco VoIP
• Continuous development and improvement of the new Village web site
• Expansion of OnBase to other areas of Village operations
