Code Enforcement for the Village
The Village enforces the standards and regulations as described within the Municipal Code. These standards and regulations are employed to insure quality construction and to protect the property, life, and safety of all citizens.
The following is a typical enforcement process:
- A code violation is witnessed or reported.
- Code enforcement officers request compliance on ordinance violations. If compliance is obtained, no additional notices are issued and the case is closed.
- If compliance is not obtained, notification is given through the issuance of a violation notice. After several site inspections without compliance or cooperation, or an overt refusal to comply with the ordinance(s) in question, court citations (tickets) are issued.
- If compliance is obtained prior to the court date, the officer will inform the judge that compliance has been obtained. The judge determines the course of action.
