Authorization to Request Road Salt Via State Contract. Village Manager Cara Pavlicek said that this authorization is to request road salt via the State contract. She said the amount to be requested is consistent with the lower amounts of salt purchased in recent years.
Commissioner Schnell asked amount the amount left over this year.
Dave Barber , Director, Public Works, said there is some left over; however, he said it will snow again on Thursday. He said they will buy a little extra to take advantage of the cost savings.
Contract Extension: Elevator Inspections. No comments.
Contract Extension: Mosquito Control Contract. The Manager said there is a difference between the contracted and budgeted amounts. She noted that spraying is not the only tool used, though it is used at least once. Other funds are for other abatement strategies.
Commissioner Schnell said that spraying only works for live mosquitoes, and said that she feels they need to do more education for public awareness.
The Manager said that this does need to be timed to meet certain conditions and agrees that education can be increased.
The Mayor said this is addressed on a macro level with the DuPage Mayors and Managers. He agreed that the spraying is not very effective. There are other, better methods to use. This purchase is for one spray.
