Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

In accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), the Village of Downers Grove does not discriminate against individuals based on their disabilities, as stated in the Notice Under the Americans with Disabilities Act document.

The Village of Downers Grove’s ADA Coordinator is Megan Miles.

This position coordinates Village efforts to comply with Title II of the ADA by making all reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities who seek to participate in Village programs, services and activities. In addition, the ADA Coordinator administers the Village’s ADA Grievance Policy.

Anyone who requires special accommodations to participate in a Village program, service or activity should contact the ADA Coordinator as soon as possible, but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.

ADA Transition Plan 

The ADA Transiition Plan Draft Report evaluates the Village's current compliance level with the infrastructure requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and establishes a plan for making progress going forward. This transition plan will guide the Village in establishing, maintaining and administering mobility and accessibility in Village-owned buildings, parking lots and other parking facilities, rights of way and intersections. 

Public Comment Period

A 60-day period of public comment and input on the draft of the ADA Transition Plan will begin on September 15, 2016, concluding on November 13, 2016. Copies of the report are available to view at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave., Public Works, 5101 Walnut Ave,. and the Downers Grove Library, 1050 Curtiss St.
