Mayor Martin Tully was sworn in for a second term as Mayor on May 5, 2015. He previously served two terms as a Village Council Commissioner from 2001-2009, at which time he opted not to run for re-election to a third term. During his tenure as a Commissioner, he served as the Mayor ProTem from May 2003-May 2009, as well as the Chair of the Tourism and Events Commission from 2003-2009, Chair of the Community Grants Commission in 2003 and 2005-2007, and he was an Ex-officio member of the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation from 2007-2009. He also served terms on each of the Public Services, Public Safety, and Finance & Administrative Standing Committees.
Mayor Tully has also served as President of the DuPage Mayors & Managers Conference, the District 3 municipal representative on the DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee, and as a member of the DuPage County Health Department's Mosquito Abatement Taskforce.
In addition to his service as an elected official, Martin has a history of being involved in the community. He is a founding member of the District 58 Education Foundation, a board member of Hope's Front Door, a member of the Downers Grove Lions Club, and a board member of the 100 Club of DuPage County. Past associations include being a member of the Belle Aire School PTA, a board member of the Orchard Brook Home Owners Association, and youth soccer coach with the Downers Grove Park District and Indian Boundary YMCA. A few of the local charities and service organizations he has supported include the West Suburban Humane Society, Bonfield Express Foundation, Downers Grove Public Library, Downers Grove Junior Woman's Club, SEASPAR, Helping Girls Navigate Adolescence and the Grove Foundation.
Professionally, Mayor Tully is a litigation attorney and a founding partner of the Actuate Law, LLC law firm, based in Chicago. He graduated cum laude from the DePaul University College of Law and holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Mayor Tully and his wife, Shanon, have two sons. He enjoys running, soccer, history, cartography and legal technology.
