Commissioner Greg Hosé was sworn in for his first term on May 7, 2013. Greg began his service to the Village of Downers Grove on the Environmental Concerns Commission and the Plan Commission, where he served as chair until his election to the Village Council.
Greg learned the importance of education, hard work, and volunteerism from his mother, a public servant and the first in her family to graduate from college, and his late-father, a small business owner. Greg graduated with a B.A. in Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy from Michigan State University's James Madison College, and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
Following college, Greg gained experience in the insurance and mutual fund industries with ICI Mutual Insurance Company. During law school, Greg worked as an intern in the New York Attorney General's Office assisting with securities fraud prosecutions and in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia assisting in domestic violence and sex offense prosecutions.
After law school, Greg worked as an associate in the commercial litigation department of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP where he represented large and small businesses in a variety of industries. He also worked on several pro bono projects, including the representation of an estranged mother of a young boy in an action under the Hague Convention on International Child Abduction. Greg and three colleagues were given an Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for their efforts. Since 2010, Greg has represented workers, most recently with the law firm of Gregorio & Marco, Ltd.
Greg's priorities are to ensure the Village of Downers Grove is lean, efficient, and responsive to your needs. He wants to create an open dialogue with community members, taking input from all and ensuring the Village reflects the desire of the community in its plans. Having represented major corporations, small businesses, and workers alike, Greg appreciates the challenges of businesses and their employees and will use his experience to help Downers Grove continue to succeed through the economic recovery. Greg is also an active member of the Downers Grove community through his volunteer service at St. Joseph Parish.
Greg and his wife Rose have two daughters, Evie and Hannah. He enjoys playing golf, reading histories and biographies, and playing with his children. Greg and his family live near Hummer Park.
