The Village is proposing to rezone 77 properties as recommended in the Comprehensive Plan.  Of those properties, 66 will be rezoned to the newly created Downtown Core District and 11 properties will be rezoned to the Downtown Transition District.  The proposed rezonings could have a significant impact on your property. Information regarding the proposed rezonings and how you can participate are shown below: 

Prior to rezoning properties, the Village completed a thorough planning process. Discussions regarding the future of the downtown started in April 2016 as the Village began the process to update the Comprehensive Plan.  Since then, the following items have been completed: 

  • The Village Council adopted an updated Comprehensive Plan, including a section dedicated to the downtown, on June 13, 2017.  To view a video on the Comprehensive Plan and the downtown, click here.
  • The Village Council adopted the downtown regulatory framework to guide the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan on January 16, 2018.
  • The Village Council provided staff with direction to implement the downtown regulatory framework on March 13, 2018.
  • The Village Council adopted the updated Zoning Ordinance which implemented the downtown regulatory framework recommendations, including the creation of a Downtown Core zoning district, on July 10, 2018.
