Project Summary

This work is an annual program which consists of resurfacing a number of neighborhood streets in town. This includes spot-repair of curb, sidewalk replacement for ADA compliance, grinding the existing top layer of asphalt, pavement patching as needed, and two new layers of asphalt with adjustments to utility structures as needed. This also includes parkway restoration in disturbed areas and new pavement striping.

11/04/22

Landscaping/sod restoration is continuing to be monitored. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout. This will be the final update for this project.

Crews worked on clean up "punch list" items the week of 10/3. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout.

9/30/22

Landscapers are continuing to come onsite to water the sod. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout. Clean up "punch list" items will be addressed and inspected and is expected to be complete by 10/7.

9/23/22

Sod installation was completed on 9/17. Landscapers will continue to come onsite to water the sod. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout. Clean up "punch list" items will be addressed and inspected and is expected to be complete by 10/4.

9/16/22

Landscapers placed sod in the Camden/Devereux area and portions of the Powell/Klein area last week. Landscapers may be placing the remaining sod in the Powell/Klein area and in the Fairmount/62nd area in the week of 9/19, schedule pending. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout. Clean up "punch list" items will be addressed and inspected following the completion of sod installation.

9/9/22

Landscapers continued prepping for sod placement the week of 9/6. Sod delivery has been delayed two weeks per the supplier, therefore sod installation will tentatively be closer to the week of 9/26. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout.

9/2/22

Landscapers were in town the week of 8/29 to begin prepping for sod placement and replacement. This work is expected to continue the week of 9/6.

8/26/22

Landscapers will be in town beginning the week of 8/29 for parkway restoration and dead sod replacement. Any sod that does not establish in a growing, healthy condition will be replaced prior to project closeout.

8/19/22

No work took place the week of 8/15. Pavement striping work (stop bars, crosswalks) is still yet to be scheduled and completed in both the Camden/Devereux and Powell/Klein neighborhoods. Sod will be placed when temperatures are back within specifications (at least September). Any sod that does not establish will be replaced prior to project closeout.

8/12/22

Surface paving was completed this week in the Camden/Devereux and Powell/Klein neighborhoods. Sod will be placed when temperatures are back within specifications (at least September). Any sod that does not establish will be replaced prior to project closeout.

8/5/22

  • The first layer of asphalt was paved in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood on Tuesday 8/2 and Wednesday 8/3. The first layer of asphalt was paved in the Powell/Klein neighborhood on Thursday 8/4. A crew will come to apply joint sealant on 8/10 to the paving seams in the neighborhood before the second and final layer of asphalt paving.
  • Surface asphalt paving is tentatively scheduled for 8/11 and 8/12 in Camden/Devereux and 8/16 in Powell/Klein. Please drive slowly as there will be fresh oil applications in preparation for the paving.
  • Sod will be placed when temperatures are back within specifications (at least September). Any sod that does not establish will be replaced prior to project closeout.

 

7/29/22

  • Road grinding took place in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood and Powell/Klein neighborhood the week of 7/25.
  • The first layer of asphalt paving is tentatively scheduled for the middle of the week of 8/1 in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood, and following in the Powell/Klein neighborhood. This schedule is dependent on the availability of construction materials and is subject to change. Please drive slowly as there will be fresh oil applications in preparation for the paving. Following the first layer of paving, a crew will come to apply joint sealant to the paving seams in the neighborhood before the second and final layer of asphalt paving.
  • Sod will be placed when temperatures are back within specifications (at least September). Any sod that does not establish will be replaced prior to project closeout.

7/8/22

  • Landscapers were onsite the week of 7/5 in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood and in the Powell/Klein neighborhood working on backfill and restoration prep activities.
  • No sod will be placed until temperatures are back within specifications (at least September). Concrete work took place in the Powell/Klein neighborhood on 7/7.
  • Road grinding and paving activities continue to be on hold due to a lack of availability of construction materials. Landscape prep in the Powell/Klein neighborhood will continue.

7/1/22

  • The road grinding and paving schedule continues to be on hold. Landscapers were onsite 7/1 in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood working on backfill and restoration prep activities.
  • No sod will be placed until temperatures are back within specifications (at least September). Concrete work took place in the Powell/Klein neighborhood the week of 6/27. Utility structures adjustments in the Powell/Klein neighborhood took place on 6/30.
  • It is expected that the week of 7/5 will continue concrete work in the Powell/Klein neighborhood and continue landscape prep in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood.

6/24/22

  • The contractor filled gaps in the curb at sidewalk ramps in the Camden/Devereux area this week. The road grinding and paving schedule continues to be on hold. Landscapers are planning to backfill and prep restoration areas in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood the week of 6/27. No sod will be placed until temperatures are back within specifications (at least September).
  • Concrete is tentatively planned in the Powell/Klein neighborhood for Monday 6/27 and/or Tuesday 6/28. Material availability will dictate this schedule and is subject to change. Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work will receive notification in the form of a door hanger 24-48 hours prior to curb removals taking place, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored.

6/17/22

There was no work onsite the week of 6/13. The schedule continues to be on hold and no work is anticipated the week of 6/20.

6/10/22

  • The week of 6/6, concrete work was completed in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood and concrete removals began in the Powell/Kidwell neighborhood.
  • The week of 6/13 will tentatively continue with concrete work in the Powell/Kidwell neighborhood. There have been schedule delays and additional construction activities are not fully scheduled at this time. Residents who recieved door hangers to notify driveway access impacts will be notified again if concrete activities are expecting additional delay.

6/3/22

  • Surface asphalt was paved in the Fairmount/62nd neighborhood on Tuesday 5/31 and Wednesday 6/1. Landscape restoration prep continued and sod placement began in that neighborhood on Thursday, 6/2. Concrete work continued in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood the week of 5/31. Concrete sawcutting began in the Powell/Kidwell neighborhood on Thursday, 6/2.
  • The week of 6/6, concrete removals will begin in the Powell/Kidwell neighborhood. Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work will receive notification in the form of a door hanger 24-48 hours prior to curb removals taking place, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored.
  • Road grinding in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood is tentatively planned for the week of 6/13.

5/27/22

  • Rain has impacted the contractor's schedule. Spot curb gaps were poured in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood on Tuesday, 5/24. Landscapers began prepping for parkway restoration in the Fairmount/62nd neighborhood this week.
  • Surface paving in the Fairmount/62nd area is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday 5/31 and Wednesday 6/1, weather permitting. Concrete work is expected to resume starting Tuesday 5/31 in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood.
  • Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work will receive notification in the form of a door hanger 24-48 hours prior to curb removals taking place, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored.
  • Concrete sawcutting in the Powell/Kidwell neighborhood is tentatively scheduled to begin on Thursday 6/2 or Friday 6/3.

5/20/22

  • Concrete removal and replacement began in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood this week. Underground adjusted utility structures in the pavement in the Main/63rd neighborhood on Friday, 5/20 to prepare for final surface paving.
  • Next week, concrete work will continue in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood. Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work will receive notification in the form of a door hanger 24-48 hours prior to curb removals taking place, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored.
  • Final surface paving in this neighborhood is tentatively scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday, 5/26 and 5/27, weather permitting.
  • Landscaping crews are tenatatively scheduled to begin restoration activities in the Main/63rd neighborhood the week of 5/23. Concrete sawcutting is expected to begin in the Powell/Kidwell neighborhood the week of 5/23.
  • Road grinding in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood is tentatively scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 5/31, weather permitting.

5/13/22

  • Concrete repair work was completed on 61st, 62nd, 62nd Ct, Fairmount, Washington, Park, Lyman, and Stratford the week of 5/9. Road grinding took place in this neighborhood on 5/10 and 5/11.
  • The first layer of asphalt began paving on Friday, 5/13 and will continue Monday, 5/16, weather permitting. Please drive slowly as there will be fresh oil applications in preparation for the paving.
  • Concrete sawcutting and select curb repairs began in the Camden/Devereux neighborhood the week of 5/9. Concrete removals are expected to resume on 5/16 and 5/17.
  • Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work will receive notification in the form of a door hanger 24-48 hours prior to curb removals taking place, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored. Underground crew will adjust in-pavement structures in the Main/63rd neighborhood to prepare for final surface paving. Driveway access will not be restricted during paving operations.

5/6/22

  • Concrete removals continued in the area north of 63rd and east of Main Street. Concrete was poured throughout the week in this area as well. Underground crews adjusted utility structures to prepare for road grinding. Weather has delayed the schedule.
  • The week of 5/9 will have the completion of concrete work in this area, and weather pending the road grinding will take place on Tuesday 5/10 and Wednesday 5/11.
  • While the road grinding and paving work takes place, there will be no anticipated loss of driveway access for residents.

4/29/22

  • Concrete removals began on 4/25 in the area north of 63rd and east of Main Street. Concrete was poured throughout the week in this area as well.
  • The week of 5/2 will continue concrete work in the same area, and grinding the road by the end of the week, weather permitting. Crews will adjust curb inlets and lower in-pavement structures to prepare for road grinding.

4/22/22

  • Sawcutting began this week in the area north of 63rd and east of Main St. Concrete removals in this area are expected to begin on Monday, 4/25, weather pending.
  • Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work have received notification in the form of a door hanger, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored.
  • Removals will be beginning on the south sides of every East-West running street, and on the east sides of every North-South running street.

4/15/22

  • Sawcutting is planned to begin on Monday, 4/18, starting in the area north of 63rd and east of Main Street (61st, 62nd, Stratford, Washington, Park, Lyman, Fairmount, and 62nd Court). Then work will continue to the neighborhoods further south.
  • Residents whose driveway access will be impacted by the concrete work will receive notification in the form of a door hanger 24-48 hours prior to curb removals taking place, and will be asked to park on the street until driveway access is restored.

4/8/22

Work is still planned to begin the week of April 18th, weather permitting.

4/1/22

A preconstruction meeting took place on March 28th. The contractor plans to begin work the week of April 18th. General construction notices are being mailed to residents in the remaining neighborhoods. Initial construction activities will include traffic control, utility locating, and concrete sawcutting. Work will be completed in phases, so neighborhoods may not see construction activities at the same time.
