Project Summary

 


The project includes installing storm sewers, constructing a detention pond on the east side of Belle Aire Lane where Virginia Street ends, as well as patching of the existing roadway where the new storm sewer will be installed, sidewalk improvements at the intersections, and street resurfacing.

The project also includes water main replacement on Venard Road between Ogden Ave and Drove Ave.

8/26/22

Addition pond planting will take place this fall.

7/1/22

Next week the bottom of the pond will be planted.

6/3/22

This week the contractor continued watering sod that was recently installed. Any recently-placed sod that dies will be replaced. Pond vegetation maintenance will be ongoing, and the planting of the bottom of the pond will be done when the weather is drier, likely in July. This is the last regular weekly update for the project. Updates will be provided on this page as needed.

5/27/22

This week the contractor placed all remaining sod for the entire project. The project is now complete, aside from a few small punchlist items and a repair to the south bank of the pond site.

5/20/22

This week the contractor completed grading and putting down topsoil. The contractor started placing sod and plans to finish the rest of the sod next week.

5/13/22

This week the contractor graded ditches and placed topsoil, in addition to continuing to work on punch list items. Next week the contractor expects to finish placing topsoil on Downers Dr. and Drove Ave., and place sod in all areas except Venard. If time allows, the contractor expects to grade ditches, place topsoil, and sod on Venard.

This week the contractor worked at the punchlist for the project and regraded some ditches throughout the project. Next week the contractor anticipates continuing on the punchlist and ditch regrading.

4/22/22

This week the contractor began adjusting storm sewer rims and regraded ditches throughout the project. Next week the contractor will continue to rework some of the ditches and work on punchlist items.

4/15/22

Next week the contractor will begin reworking some of the ditches throughout the project so the ditches aren't so steep.

12/13/21

The contractor has been working at the punchlist over the past week and is expected to continue doing so this week. This will be the last week of work for this year. Any outstanding items will be picked up in the spring.

12/03/21

This week the contractor installed seed and blanket on the side-slopes of the pond, and installed road striping throughout the project. The contractor started some of the punchlist items throughout the project, and will continue working on them next week as well.

11/19/21

This week the contractor installed fence at the pond site and at the creek location on Downers Drive, as well as sod touch-ups throughout the project site. Next week the contractor plans to start installing seed and blanket on the side-slopes of the pond.

11/05/21

This week the contractor pumped the pond down to where it is workable again in preparation for landscaping. The contractor wasn't able to start landscaping the pond this week, but is hoping the weather will be favorable enough for the planting to take place next week.

10/29/21

This week the contractor did some fixes throughout the project, including replacing some sidewalk. Next week the contractor plans to pump water out of the pond and begin to install plants and seeds throughout the pond.

10/22/21

The contractor wasn't able to work in the pond this week due to the wet weather. Next week the contractor anticipates returning to do pond work, provided the pond isn't too wet.

10/15/21

Over the past two weeks, the contractor has been grading the parkways and restoring sod throughout the project. Next week the contractor plans to continue work in the pond, if the bottom of the pond isn't too wet. The contractor also plans to work on various outstanding fixes throughout the project.

10/04/21

Last week the contractor began placing sod and completed the installation of the stone shoulder throughout the project. This week the contractor anticipates continuing to shape ditches and place sod, as well continue with pond work. The contractor may also complete the rest of the concrete work for the project.

9/27/21

The contractor completed paving the roads last week, as well as continued grading the ditches in preparation for sod. This week the contractor anticipates continuing with ditching work, and starting to place sod.

Next week the contractor anticipates continuing the ditching work throughout the project, and is expecting to begin placing sod in the ditches.

This week the contractor continued placing topsoil at the pond site, as well as ditching and placing topsoil in preparation for sod throughout the site. Next week the contractor is expected to continue the aforementioned pond and ditching work.

8/6/21

  • This week the contractor completed the storm sewer installation for the project. The majority of the concrete work (concrete driveways, sidewalks, and curb) was also completed.
  • Next week the contractor is expected to remove the concrete formwork, continue with pond excavation, and start patching the roads and milling to prepare for final road surface.

7/30/21

Next week the contractor is expected to continue with pond excavation, shape ditches throughout the project site, prepare for concrete work, and substantially complete the storm sewer installation for the project.

Next week the contractor is expected to continue excavation of the pond site, and start storm sewer construction on Venard north of Drove.

7/16/21

Next week the contractor is expected to continue installing storm sewer on Belle Aire Lane between Janet St and Ogden Ave, as well as storm sewer on Venard Rd north of Drove Ave. The contractor is also expected to resume the excavation of the pond site.

Next week the contractor is expected to install storm sewer on Belle Aire Ln and Drove Ave.

7/2/21

Haul-off of the soil at the pond site was started this week but halted temporarily due to the soil being too wet. Next week the contractor is expected to continue installing storm sewer on Belle Aire. In preparation for topsoil and sod, the contractor may also begin shaping ditches in areas where storm sewer installation is complete.

6/25/21

Next week the contractor is expected to install storm sewer on Janet St and Belle Aire Ln. Excavation of the pond site is expected to begin, and there will be significant truck traffic on Belle Aire Ln as all the soil gets hauled away.

6/18/21

Next week the contractor is expected to continue with storm sewer installation on Downers Drive and Janet Street, which may include temporary water shutoffs for some residents and businesses on Ogden. The contractor may begin excavation of the pond site as early as the weekend of 6/26.

6/11/21

Storm sewer installation continues. Next week the contractor is expected to continue with storm sewer installation on Janet Street, with some installation likely on Virgina Street and Downers Drive.

6/4/21

Storm sewer installation continues throughout the project. Next week the contractor is expected to install storm sewer on Janet St and Virginia St. As weather allows, the contractor is also expected to shape ditches on Downers Dr north of Viginia St, and continue with site restoration on Venard Rd.

5/28/21

This week the contractor completed the installation of the box culvert on the creek under Downers Drive. Next week the contractor is expected to continue to install storm sewer on Seeley Ave, and begin storm sewer on Janet Street. Work continues in the pond area, and restoration on Venard Rd is ongoing.

5/21/21

Contractor completed patching and paving on Venard, and continued storm sewer installation on Seeley this week. Contractor is scheduled to complete mainline storm sewer on Seeley next week, and resume storm sewer work on Downers Drive. Contractor may have to close Downers Drive north of 40th next week to install a box culvert.

5/14/21

Contractor completed all water main work on Venard this week and continued storm sewer installation on Virginia. Next week the contractor is scheduled to continue installation of storm sewer on Seeley. The contractor is also scheduled to start patching and paving on Venard between Drove and Ogden.

5/7/21

Contractor continued storm sewer installation on Downers Drive and began water service installations on Venard this week. Contractor is scheduled to complete all water main work on Venard next week, and continue storm sewer installation on Virginia.

4/30/21

Contractor testing the new water main installed on Venard this week. Contractor also began storm sewer installation on Downers Drive at 40th and progressing south. Nicor began gas line relocations for the project this week. Contractor is scheduled to return to Venard next week to begin water service installations if all testing passes this week.

4/23/21

Contractor completed main line water main installation on Venard this week, and is scheduled to be testing water main on Venard next week. Contractor is scheduled to start storm sewer installation on Downers next week at 40th, and proceed south to Virginia.

4/16/21

Water main installation continued on Venard this week. The contractor started excavation of the pond on Belle Aire this week. Next week, the contractor is scheduled to continue water main installation on Venard and excvation of the pond on Belle Aire.

Water main instalation started on Venard this week. Water main installation is scheduled to continue on Venard next week.

4/2/21

Tree removals continued at the pond site on Belle Aire. Water main installation scheduled to start next week on Venard.

3/26/21

Tree removals started at the pond site on Belle Aire. The contractor started sawcutting the pavement on Venard for water main installation which will begin the week of April 5th.

3/19/21

Tree removal at the Belle Aire pond site is scheduled to start the week of 3/22/21.

1/22/21

The project was awarded to ALamp Concrete Contractors at the January 19, 2021 Village Council Meeting. Village staff will work with the contractor to coordinate the start of construction.

12/18/20

Bids were received on December 15, 2020. Council is expected to approve the construction contract in January 2021, with construction to begin shortly thereafter.

11/27/20

The project is being resumed after being suspended due to funding concerns related to COVID-19. The project is out for bid again and bids will be opened on December 15, 2020. Construction is expected to begin early 2021.

3/13/20

Council has approved the award of the construction contract to Campanella & Sons.

2/21/20

Contractor bids have been received. The lowest responsible bid will be presented to Council March 3, 2020.

01/31/20

The project is out for bid and bids will be opened on February 14, 2020. Construction is expected to begin in April.
