Project Summary

This work is an annual program which consists of resurfacing a number of neighborhood streets in town. This includes spot-repair of curb, sidewalk replacement for ADA compliance, grinding the existing top layer of asphalt, pavement patching as needed, and two new layers of asphalt with adjustments to utility structures as needed. This also includes parkway restoration in disturbed areas and new pavement striping.

  • The work will occur on Burlington Ave from Main Street to Washington Street, and on Mochel Drive from Burlington Ave to the Parking Deck.

Project Alerts

The first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for application Tuesday, 5/17, weather pending. On-street parking will be restricted during the paving process. Parking will re-open at the conclusion of the workday, but will be closed overnight in anticipation for work scheduled the following morning.

Recent Progress

5/13/22

 

  • Spot concrete repairs took place downtown on Monday, 5/9. Road grinding took place on Burlington and Mochel on Thursday, 5/12 and around the parking deck on Friday, 5/13.
  • The first layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 5/17, weather permitting. On-Street parking will be restricted during the paving process. Parking will re-open at the conclusion of the work day but will be closed overnight in anticipation for work scheduled the following morning.
  • After leveling binder is paved, underground crews will adjust utility structures to prepare for final surface paving.

 

5/6/22

  • Rain has delayed the contractor's schedule. Underground crews adjusted utility structures on 5/5 to prepare for road grinding.
  • Concrete work is expected to take place on Monday, 5/9, weather permitting. Road grinding is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 5/12.
  • Select parking stalls will be blocked for the concrete operations, and on-street parking will be restricted during the road grinding and paving process.

 

4/29/22

  • Construction activities are expected to begin the week of 5/2. Concrete removal and replacement will take place first. Crews will adjust curb inlets and lower in-pavement structures to prepare for road grinding.
  • Road grinding is tentatively scheduled to take place the week of 5/9, weather permitting.

 

4/22/22

Construction activities are on hold to allow space for other sidewalk construction work downtown to progress.

Construction activities are on hold to allow space for other sidewalk construction work downtown to progress. It is expected that work in this area will begin at the end of April.

4/8/22

Work is still planned to begin the week of April 18th, weather permitting.

4/1/22

A preconstruction meeting took place on March 28th. The contractor plans to begin work on Burlington and Mochel the week of April 18th. Initial construction activities will include traffic control, utility locating, and concrete sawcutting.

03/25/22

A preconstruction meeting will take place within the next two weeks, at which point the Contractor will provide an anticipated schedule of work.
